CLIMATE

Kerala has an equable tropical climate. There are 4 seasons :

(1) the pre-monsoon summer - season (March - May)

(2) the south -west monsoon (June - september)

(3) North - East monsoon (October- December)

(4) winter (January-February).

The mean temperature of the low lands is 90 0 F and is slightly humid. During the summer months the temperature goes higher, but then the high ranges will be comfortably cool. South -West monsoon brings heavy torrential rain that gorges the rivers with flood water. The North -East monsoon can be heavy, but shorter. The average rain fall is 96 inches which may go upto 200 inches in the high ranges.
